New York: A Signet Book, Published by the New American Library, [1948]. 12mo. 188 pp. Colour-illustrated softcovers, cover art photo of Olivia de Havilland behind fencing (slight shelfwear), still NF copy, w/ neat ownership label of Hiro Wakabayashi (1930-2017), Japanese-American and Korean War veteran on pastedown. First Signet movie tie-in edition, No. 696, of this American Drama based on the semi-autobiographical novel by the author who had been a mental hospital patient. The Anatole Litvak 20th Century-Fox movie was largely filmed at the Camarillo State Mental Hospital in California, and Olivia de Havilland’s performance was notable for its’ realism.
