About This Item

Sunderland; William Henry Hills, 1862., 1862. Hard Cover. FIRST EDITION. Small quarto, pp. viii, 94, [2] errata. Lacks frontispiece. Decorative head- and tail-pieces, and initial letters. Bottle green cloth with borders in blind to boards and gilt titles to upper board. Corners a little bruised and spine tips rubbed but cover cloth bright. Minor scattered foxing; a little marginal lining and underlining in pencil, and some annotations to margins referring to family connections. A Very Good copy. Genealogical work covering the history of the Forster and Foster family (the reason for the spelling change is unknown), including artist Myles Birket Foster (1825-99). The volume obviously belonged to a family member, from the context of the annotation. Scarce.
