By Author, Printed for Private Circulation, 1917. Wraps. Green stiff card covers, paper title label on front cover, 8vo, 54 pp. Sanitation Section (SSU) 65 was located 10Ð12 miles back from the front lines near Chemin des Dames in France. Sullivan (1890-1956) wrote these letters to his aunt, Mary Louise Phelan, to be circulated among relatives and friends. These letters from France covering a period extending from August to November, 1917, are edited by the author's uncle, United States Senator James D. Phelan, of California. (History of the American Field Service in France). After the American entry in the war, Sullivan was part of the United States Army Ambulance Service (USAAS) No marks in book, binding tight. Previous owner's name on title label on front cover. Book condition VG. Uncommon World War I title.
