About This Item
Sons of the Sea by A. M. R. Wright (London: The Readers Library Publishing Company Ltd, [1928]*).
The Readers Library published affordable editions of popular fiction in the period 1924-35, cheaply produced but very attractive with their wrap-round dustwrapper artwork.
Novelisation by Anna Maria Rose Wright (1890-1968)* of the 1926 Paramount film 'Old Ironsides' starring Charles Farrell, Esther Ralston and Wallace Beery, directed by James Cruze (IMDB). Originally published in the US by Grosset & Dunlap (c1926), this copy from Readers Library was published with the film's UK release title of 'Sons of the Sea'.
Hardback in dustwrapper. 252pp. Size: 6.75 x 4.25 inches approx. (169mm x 106mm).
Dustwrapper a little worn and creased; worn with small loss to spine ends and corner tips, short tears to head of spine; nibbles to bottom edge of front flap; dusty and marked in places, some foxing evident to verso. Light shelf wear to spine and boards, short split to front hinge at spine head; gilt dulled to spine. Pages age toned throughout but generally clean.
Overall, showing light wear but otherwise a nice, clean copy.
*ref. British Library
