About This Item
W B Whittingham & Co., London, 1886. First Edition. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 97 pages (complete). A mellow copy of this rarely encountered book. A fascinating book, mainly about the Cape, giving directions and advice and recommendations for invalids (and assuring them of the lack of necessity to travel by ox-wagon!). The boards have wear, tanning, scuffing. They are affable and sound and steady. The spine is neat (new?). Folded map at the front. Very sparsely foxed. Healthy, fresh-faced. The contents are mild. They have some evidence of age, some wear about the edges of pages, some handling and shelving marks about the page trims, some very occasional foxing. The final pages (advertising) have a few closed and open tears. In general the pages are clean, clear, convivial, confident, companionable, certain, keen. fk.
