Portrait frontispiece, 473pp.(verso blank), 2pp. publisher's ads, illustrated with 17 (as called for) engraved portraits with tissue guards. The author has presented what he believed were the most prominent Generals because including all of them would fill an encyclopedia. . Here he presents us with biographies of 18 Generals. A very good copy bound in publisher's brown embossed cloth, rebacked with original spine laid down, endpapers re-newed, p. 402-403 have off-setting from a leaf laid in at some point. [Howes-743].
