About This Item
New York: The Blue & The Gray Press, n.y.. Paperback. Three volumes (out of four). 16mo. Stiff red pictorial wrappers. (Ca. 200pp each). Very good. Wrappers slightly rubbed, but internally near fine. Facsimile reprint of the first, third and fourth volumes of this quartette, first published in New York by C.B. Richardson in 1866 -- lacks the second volume. Undated, but circa 1970. Martin Abbott critiqued this study by the Richmond editor as "The first popular history of the war from the Confederate point of view... marred by venomous anti-Davis feeling and bitter anti-Northern prejudice." NEVINS II,175.
