Maroon cloth with silver spine lettering and Indian logo in sijlver on front. Endpaper maps of Indian Reservations. There were 50 limited edition copies published that weere bound in Arizona cowhide and numbered one to fifty. There were 2200 copies of these 1957 first editions. There are 42 full page color illustrations - most from Arizona Highways. Plus many black and white illustrations as shown in captions and llist of paintings and craft decorations. This book was written to be read; it is not merely a reference work. Both accurate and popular, it places on record the rich contribution native Americns have med to our national heritage. Contents in Seven Chapters: Prehistoric Decorative Art, Historic Decorative Art, A New Start, The Rio Grande, The Western Pueblos,Navajo and Apache, and When Old Roots Go. Plus Chapter Notes, author's Preface, Forword bfy Emil Haury, and Acknowledgments.
