About This Item

Tulsa, OK: Self-Published, 1928. This volume is likely one of a kind, submitted as "a brief report of my travels during the vacation months of the summer of 1928. The trip was made in view of studying the geography of the Southwest, in both its descriptive and commercial phases..." "The months of June, July, and August, 1928, I spent in making a tour of the Great southwest. During this time I visited in eight states and the border country of Old Mexico. The distance traveled was approximately seven thousand miles and the cost nearly Four hundred dollars." The work is self published and was submitted to superintendent P. P. Claxton and the Board Members and City Schools of Tulsa, Oklahoma on December 1, 1928. Ex-Library with only a few stamps and a rear paste down card pocket. A tag on the front free end leaf has been removed. Original black pebbled cloth covers with gilt stamped lettering. The original spine cover was lacking and has been replaced with black binder's tape. In addition to the two page itinerary and a page of contents, there are 52 pages of text and 46 leaves with affixed images that include 54 b/w photos, 35 color post cards, 6 real photo post cards, and 24 images taken from other sources. All images and text are found on the recto surface of the leaves, with all versos being blank. Covers are otherwise worn at corners and show rubbing on edges. Older binder's tape is seen holding hinges (internal). Volume remains fairly solid. Contents are generally very clean and intact. . Signed. First Edition. Cloth - Hard Cover.
