About This Item

Berlin: [Izdatel'stvo E.A. Gutnova], 1923., 1923.. Good. - Octavo, 7-7/8 inches high by 6 inches wide. Bound in black boards backed with a burgundy cloth spine. The covers are rubbed with wear to the edges and spine. There are remnants of an otherwise perished paper label on the spine as well as a hint of an excise or tax stamp. "M 12/1" is penned on the cloth along the inner edge of the front cover. 66 & [1] pages, illustrated with 2 full-page plates, 1 full-page illustration, 17 full-page photographic illustrations and 7 textual illustrations. 5 of the photographs are identified as by H. Lee & Co. There is a light library stamp in the margin of one photograph as well as library stamps on the title page and page 11. A number is penned at the top corner of the front pastedown and "M 12/1" is penned at the top right of the title page with an additional number penciled at left. What appears to be a price has been partially erased and rubbed off from the verso of the last photograph (the last page) resulting in creasing and a tiny hole to the top margin of the plate. The top corner of page 65 is torn out but without any loss of text.

First edition. RARE.
