About This Item
New York: Viking Press, 1983. First Edition. First printing Near fine in 1/4 maroon cloth and light orange paper covered boards with gilt text stamping on the spine with light foxing appearing on the edges of the text block. In a very near fine unclipped dust jacket with a small 1/3" closed tear at the upper edge of the front panel and with two small nicks at the lower corners of the front panel and a crease to the front flap. This is the true first edition of the book which was suppressed and recalled for destruction shortly after its publication due to complaints made by the FBI. The title was re-leased in 1991. This is one of the scarce volumes which made it to the market and avoided capture. 628 pages including an index, chapter notes and text. A very handsome copy with no ownership marks, notations or book plates.
