No markings, a touch of shelf soiling to the lower edge page corner tips,just a hint of rubbing to lower cover corner tips, and foot of spine otherwise Near Fine in Good dust jacket with small tears and chipping to head and foot of spine, 1" closed tear to lower edge of front panel. Cloth with gold titles, [267]pp, the photos are in colour and are all tipped-in, floor plans. 15 churches: Snacta Sophia; Sant'Apollinaire Nuovo, San Vitale; Sant'Apolloinaire in Classe; St Mark's in Venice; St Savin; St Magdalen; St Lazarus; St Andrew's; St Etienne; Our Lady in Ulm; St Peter's in Rome; Our Lady in Zwiefalten; Our Lady in Assy; and St Michael's in Coventry. Kessel was a photojournalist and a staff photographer with LIFE Magazine. The photos in this book required months of arduous labour--some involving built scaffording, extra technicians and special power feeds. The commentary is by Henri Peyre. A heavy book.
