Chicago: The Private Press of Will Ransom: Maker of Books, 1922 Limited edition No. 61/ 259 copies. Inscribed by Author on ffep. Hard cover, Demy 8vo. (measuring 5 1/2 x 8 3/4 inches) in blue paper-covered boards with starburst design in gold to top board, a cream paper label with black printed title to the spine, hand-printed on Tuscany hand-made paper, in black, blue inks , 122 pp. plus printer's colophon, which states: ""Design, lettering, composition, and presswork by Will Ransom." Condition: Very Good Minus. An inch long chip is missing to foot of the spine, and wear is apparent at the rear joint resulting in a couple of small losses. Rubbing at corners and head of the spine. Inside, offset to the ffep., however, the work remains generally clean, firm and a very handsome example of workmanship and design. Contents include poems reprinted from the works of Power Dalton. The publisher of this item, Will Ransom, (1878-19550 was a noted type designer and graphic artist and bibliographer of small press printings in the United States and abroad. He is the author of the classic work on this subject, "Private Presses and their Books." Original plans and drawings for this volume are held at The Newberry Library, Chicago.
