New York: William Morrow, 1935. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fair. 2nd Printing of the First US edition - issued in the same of month of publication as the First Printing (April 1935). An extraordinary copy of this classic of 20th Century children's literature and basis for the film starring a young Elizabeth Taylor. At first glance, a rather scruffy copy which doesn't really bear a second glance but never judge a book by its cover. At the front endpaper, the most delightful inscription from Edith Bagnold: "To Miss Busvine, from a querulous, bad-tempered but very grateful author - to a saint. Edith Bagnold, London, March 1936". Very interestingly, Miss Bagnold (married name, "Jones") has also signed for a second time below the small drawing of a horse at the foot of the page as "Edith Jones". The illustrations in the book have always been attributed to the author's daughter, Laurian Jones, who was but a child at the time of publication, which begs the question…

London: Rapp & Whiting, 1973. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. First Printing of the First UK edition which was the first hardcover edition of this title. Original green cloth with gilt titles to the backstrip. Not fine but a VG copy which has a slight lean. Pushed a little at the spine tips but with sharp corners. Minor tanning - or rather, dis-coloration - to the edges of the block but free from owner names, library markings etc. The covers are clean and bright. The dustjacket has the original price of £2.50 at the front flap. There is a small tri-angular chip at the foot of the spine and a small, old sellotape repair to the inside of the jacket above. Minor chip to the laminate of the jacket at the foot also. For best appreciation of condition please examine the accompanying images. Much, much better than it probably sounds this is a very nice example of a very rare book - no spotting/foxing, no previous owner names or library markings etc.

Softcover with flaps. Publisher: Förlaget M | Utg. 2019 | Softcover with flaps | 89 p. | This book is brand new. | We have this book in our store house - please allow for a couple of extra days for delivery.

Straight, tight and clean with no wear or markings in bright, pictorial card covers, no dustjacket as issued. The pieces in this collection, written between 1956 and 1961 and including short fiction, a radio play, and a stunning early novel, offer startling insights into Cohens imagination and creative process. When he comes to describe Jerusalem he makes this remarkable statement; Do not set out...resolved to make discoveries. There is not a foot of ground that has not been already scrutinized by a thousand eyes as keen as yours, and the old adage, "If new not true," may be applied to Jerusalem and her monuments with more propriety than to any other place on earth...." - Introduction from Poet and Peasant: A…
