New York: Thomas Y Crowell & Company. Very Good. 1904. First Edition. Hardcover. 146 p. 19.5 cm. Sound and square binding in cloth-covered boards, with stamped titles and illustration to upper board and spine. Lower fore-corners are lightly bumped. All corners show light wear. The spine is sunned and titles somewhat faded. Front free endpaper is missing. Inside pages are clean and unmarked overall, with slight toning. The story of a young boy and Old Ben, who shows him the ways of the woods and the animals who live there. The author is known as a naturalist and for the books he wrote about nature. Illustrated with nine black and white plates by Charles Copeland, a member of the Boston Watercolor Society. .
