Description: The first novel includes few small illustrations by Thomas Fogarty. This is an omnibus edition with three complete novels. Gold is the story of the gold fever of 1849 with part of the story set in Panama on the route taken by the gold seekers; The Gray Dawn deals with the stormy era of the vigilantes in the 1850s and the chaos on the gold coast. The final novel in this California historical trilogy -- The Rose Dawn -- shows California's development into its new prosperity through a land boom.
