About This Item

Hardcover. Very Good/Good. Ennion, E A R. Harrap, London, 1947, first edition; quarto, 193 x 254mm; pp 100; over 100 drawings in the text by the author; light grey linen, pictorial dust wrappers; neat ownership inscription, brief quotation and the date of August 1947 on the front fly; end papers a little browned and foxed and the spine now faded but otherwise a very good copy. ... ... ... The work is a detailed and scientifically accurate but simply told account of migration, a complex subject extending well beyond the usual view of bird migrationn and here taking in also mammals, reptiles, fish and insects. The author was for many years a rural GP and at the time of publication had become warden of the pioneer ecologically and natural history focussed Field Centre at Flatford Mill in Suffolk.
