An amalgamation of the old 43rd & 52nd Regiments, they served with Wolfe at Quebec, in the American War of Independence & in the East Indies. In 1799 Sir John Moore commanded the 52nd &, in 1808 they sailed for the Peninsula where they served with distinction throughout the war. Waterloo, The Indian Mutiny & then, in 1914, with the BEF to Belgium & France where they fought bravely at Mons, The Marne & defeated the Prussian Guards at Ypres.
