About This Item
Cambridge University Press, 1904. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Used - Very Good. Privately printed, believed to be of 100 copies only. Spine, binding and cover all fine, contents clean and no inscription. ""6"" pencil inscription on inside cover. Quarter vellum; grey paper-covered boards with black titles. Vellum slightly stained & rubbed; boards very slightly exposed. Rare classic fantasy first issued as a memorial tribute to the young author/artist James McBryde. It includes an introduction by his friend, M. R. James, providing the background for McBryde's story of three young men who take a vacation-expedition to Denmark to capture a live troll. The original manuscript's whimsical drawings and illegible handwriting are now supplemented with a text translation. Very nice copy. LR Bookcase
