Printing 1885 , red cloth hardcover with gilt to the front boards and spines with design , vol. 1 , 384 page , vol. 2 , 382 pages. With black & white line drawing plates through out. The upper Canada Rebellion was an insurrection against the oligarchic government of British colony of Upper Canada ( present day Ontario ) in December 1837 . While public grievances had existed for years , it was the rebellion in Lower Canada ( present day Quebec ), which started the previous month , that emboldened rebels in Upper Canada to revolt.The revolt lingered until 1838 , while it shank , it became more violent , mainly through the support of the Hunter's Lodge a secret United States based militia that emerged in 1837 around the Great Lakes and launched the Patriot War in 1838. This is an steamily rare signed by the author on the first blank inscribed . Condition : Very Good with some aging to the pages. With professional hinge repair and new back boards and red cloth. Size: 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall.
