This series, under the general editorship of Enid Lamonte Meadowcroft, provides easy to read, exciting stories based upon the lives of historical figures. We follow Winston Churchill from his unpromising schoolboy years at Harrow -- bottom of his class and often up to mischief -- then on to Sandhurst and membership in the cadet cavalry. Then we follow him in action -- first in Cuba, and on to the hills of northern India, and the Sudan. The greatest adventure of his youth was as war correspondent in South Africa, where a daring escape after capture by the Boers first brought him into headline fame. Alida Sims Malkus is the author of others in this series including the stories of Good Queen Bess, Louis Pasteur, and Jacqueline Kennedy.
