No dust jacket. The story of a man driven to become a doctor, regardless of the cost to others. Was published in 1954 and made into a movie in 1955. From IMDB.com, "An ego-driven, aspiring physician, intolerant of the weaknesses of others, especially those closest to him, comes to grips with his own imperfections." Perhaps Thompson's most well-known book.
This copy has been damaged, presumably by water, which has stained the cover and weakened the binding. In spite of this, the pages are crisp and clean with no yellowing or significant water stains. Owner's name and small inscription inside front cover.
