STRANGERS ON A TRAIN - Original Vintage Cinema Movie Poster, 1953
by Hitchcock, Alfred (Director)

Finland: Warner Bros, 1953. No Binding. Fine. An extremely rare Finnish "tour",(possible "insert") poster for the Alfred Hitchcock movie STRANGERS ON A TRAIN. The film was first screened in Finland on the 7th March in 1952. It was re-released in 1962 and had a further screening in 1984 in Helsinki. You are looking at a "tour" poster issued following that initial release of 1952. The poster has a printed date of 1953 - it is most unusual for Finnish movie posters to have a printed date on them. At the bottom there is a blank margin where you might normally expect printed text concerning times, dates, location and ticket price headings for hand-completion in respect of regional/local screenings. The dimensions of this poster are also non-standard. You can reasonably expect a normal Finnish "tour-poster" to conform to approx 24" x 13" but in this case the poster measures 27" x 13.25" - more akin to the Italian locandina. It is possible that this poster was intended for use as an "insert"-type poster or it could just be that the tour posters of this age were all this size - we have no other examples to compare with at this time. It has THREE folding creases - very unusual - but otherwise is in really Fine, unused condition. Minor handling crease upper right corner but no pinholes, no adhesive residue marks and obviously the lack of printed additions to the margin suggests that it escaped distribution. A fantastic item of movie memorabilia. For best appreciation of condition, please examine the high-resolution image which accompanies this listing.

A Hitchcock classic, following a psychotic socialite and tennis pro who meet on a train and promptly form a partnership to "exchange murders." The plan seems infallible until one person shirks his end of the deal. Shot on location in New York, Los Angeles, Washington DC, and Connecticut. Blue titled wrappers, noted as FINAL on the front wrapper, rubber-stamped copy No. 115, dated OCT. 18, 1950.
