Odhams Press Ltd, London, No date. Edition Unstated. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition/Good. Illustrator: Photographic. 192 pages, foreword by Hannen Swaffer, and index. Black-and-white photographic frontispiece. Within the text there are 16 pages of black-and-white photographs. Gray fleck coloured boards with red writing on the spine. Very minor rubbing and bumping to be book edges. Browning and foxing to the top paper edge and slight browning to the other paper edges. Browning and offset tanning to the endpapers. Previous owner's name to the top right-hand corner of the free front endpaper. The internal pages are very slightly tanned. Photographic dustwrapper, showing a young Maurice Chevalier and his straw hat, against a red background with white writing on the front panel and spine. The dustwrapper is quite rubbed and faded, the spine being particularly affected by fading to where the writing is almost unreadable. The back panel has become quite yellow. Rubbing and chipping to the dustwrapper corners and to the head and to the heel of the spine. Small tears to both the top and bottom front dustwrapper edges with associated creaseing. Clipping of the dustwrapper, front fold over lower right-hand corner. The first part of Maurice Chevaliers' life up until just after World War II. He was at that time the world's most famous Frenchman. There are few publication details and no date but previous owner has dated the book 15.5.51. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
