Images measures 6" x 9 1/4" (each), sheet measures 15 3/8" x 11"<br/> <br/> This page from Harper's Weekly features two woodcut engravings depicting scenes in Manila, Philippines. The top image showings a flooded street during a heavy rain. Many figures are seen sitting in a canoe, while other figures wade through the flooded street, with the water reaching their knees. Despite the severe flooding, the scene feels very casual, capturing a sense of normalcy among the locals. The lower image depicts a group of Chinese women caring for several European children. The print is in very good condition with minor wear to margins not affecting the image. Issued in the November 15, 1857 edition of Harper's Weekly.<br> <br> Harper's Weekly was a New York-based illustrated political magazine published from 1857 until 1916. The magazine featured foreign and domestic news, fiction, essays on many subjects, and humor.
