Philadelphia: George & Wayne, 1844. First edition. Disbound. Very Good. 5 1/4 x 8 1/2 inches. 24 pages. Lightly toned, but otherwise bright and clean and free from marking, soiling and staining. Disbound. Ives was the founder of the short lived Brotherhood of the Holy Cross, and such a vocal advocate of "Oxford" or "Tractarian" theories that he was arraigned for them before the General Convention. He eventually (1852) converted to the Roman church. He was married to the daughter of Bishop John Henry Hobart, who also converted.
