Author's Edition of a memoir by the American showman and politician Phineas Taylor Barnum (1810-1891), founder of the Barnum & Bailey Circus, first published in 1869. 875pp with 33 black and white illustrations, including tissue guarded portrait to frontis. Blind stamped border to boards, gilt design and title to spine. Rubbing and bumping to spjne and corners, page edges somewhat soiled, hinges starting to pull and inscription in pencil to endpaper, otherwise fair/good reading copy..
