Blue cloth boards show very light shelf wear.; A tight solid book, grey cloth covered boards, hinges intact. ; 9.0 X 6.5 X 2.5 inches; 200 pages; This book was developed from a monograph about "civil control of the military". The author claims that "in only one major European power, England, did this theory gain sufficient practice to become a principle of the Constitution before the 19th C. This essay attempts to explain why the British Constitution has transmitted to modern times some wisdom of the Greeks on the matter of control of the military." (intro) .
