About This Item
Engraving. Page measures 10 1/4" x 13".

This colorful engraving depicts the surprise attack by the French against the British at St. Eustache in 1781 during the American Revolution. St. Eustache, the Dutch owned island in the Caribbean was a major port and trading post during the Revolution and at this time was ultimately captured by the French thus ending British control. The hand coloring distinguishes the French and British uniforms showing the French overpowering the battle scene. Colonial architecture is depicted in the background.
