Swan Song (Special Advance Reading Copy)

This is the true first edition of Robert McCammon's novel Swan Song. It is the Advance Reading Copy of the Mass Market Paperback Original that was released in 1987. This ARC was released in late 1986. It's actually harder to come by than either the Dark Harvest or Subterranean limited editions.

The book is a well-read, passed around copy (as was it's purpose). There is wear to the covers, but they are intact with the exception of one tiny piece missing from the top right corner. The spine is curved, which is typical of this book simply because of it's size. If you read the book, the spine will curl. I have seen brand new, pristine, unread copies of the released book and even those have a slight curl to the spine. There are reading creases on the spine, but they are closed creases (the actual cover paper is not broken). There are common hinge creases as well as some creases to the front corners. There is also one closed tear on the bottom of the back cover. The side edges of the pages have some finger marks, but again, from being read several times. The spine is very tight, and while curled, the book will not just fall open when laid upon it's spine. For a well used copy, it's actually in really good shape,


The book was signed in the late 80s at a promotional event by Dark Harvest celebrating the publication of both the Limited Edition Hardcover of Swan Song and Carrion Comfort (by Dan Simmons). I was present at the signing, although this is not my personal copy. It comes from the collection of my best friend. He and I attended the signing together.
