In addition to hiring Buddy Rich, he signed Billie Holiday as his band's vocalist in 1938, becoming the first white bandleader to hire a full-time black female singer to tour the segregated Southern US. CONDITION 229 pages with large half tone photo section in the middle, pages are cyclostyled. Cover has light toning and crease to spine o/w in excellent condition, tidy name inside front, pages bright.. First Edition. Soft Cover. Very Good/N/A. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
