London: George Virtue, 1836. First Edition. hardcover. Plates and text appear to have been washed resulting in bright, clean pages. Beautifully colored and bound in absolutely Fine condition. Two quarto (8-1/4" x 10-3/4") volumes bound in one in publisher's elaborately gilt-decorated (a central figure of a knight supporting an eagle on his arm) burgundy morocco leather, nicely rebacked with a handsome gilt-decorated and lettered morocco leather spine, all edges gilt. Illustrated with 2 engraved title pages and 106 steel-engraved plates after Bartlett, all delicately hand-colored, as well as a folding lithograph map of Switzerland.
