Macmillan and Co. Ltd., 1881. Hardcover. Acceptable. 1881. No Edition Remarks. 446 pages. No dust jacket. This is an ex-Library book. Red cloth covered boards with gilt. Book has been rebound by library using new end papers, with expected inserts, stamps and inscriptions. Pages remain clear with minimal tanning and foxing to page borders. Hinges are cracked with exposed netting. Text block rebind is quite tight, wrinkling some pages at the gutters and has some moderate cracking in places. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Mild crushing to spine ends. Cloth has minor damp and dust stains. Spine is worn at the joints with small holes to the cloth and a larger split at the top, reinforced with clear tape. Sunning to spine. Gilt darkened.
