About This Item
United States: Dorothy K. Weeblow, 1951. Very good. Minor wear to extremities and minor dust soiling. All six (6) dolls present and in very good to near-fine condition.. A charming interactive children's book emphasizing international friendship and cultural heritage. The story revolves around six children from European countries (England, France, Italy, Holland, Switzerland, and Norway) who are traveling across the Atlantic on an ocean liner. The young reader is asked to help the Captain and his crew return the children to each of their countries; to do this, the reader must take each of the six (6) die-cut paper dolls from an envelope on the fifth leaf, and put them in the slots of their prospective countries on the following leaves. Each child is dressed in traditional clothing, and are slotted onto a map that shows special features of their respective country (e.g. cheese for Switzerland). The book ends, "Now that you have taken the children to their own countries, everyone is happy. The children will always remember the good times they had in America." Oblong 8vo (7.5" by 9.75"), 12 unnumbered leaves with six (6) die-cut dolls, bound in original spiral-bound illustrated covers.
