Very good with cover somewhat rubbed, particularly along the edges, with corners exposed. First few pages have become loose at the bottom, but otherwise tightly bound. Endpapers foxed and light foxing throughout. Previous owner's initials on front pastedown and further identifying information on front endpaper and title page.

Vol. I: 205pp, with dedication to the Duches of Rutland and authors' preface. Vol.II: 235pp + errata page. Poems. Good condition overall. Pages are very good, clean, just the odd spot or small mark, and binding sound. The covers are, however, worn: the main boards are bright and clean, with rubbed edges, but half of the spine leather is detaching in Vol.II, and has the lower 2cm missing in vol.I.

Complete in two volumes. With the armorial bookplates of John Blenkinsopp Coulson to the front pastedowns. George Crabbe (24 December 1754 3 February 1832) was an English poet and clergyman. Lord Byron, an avowed admirer of Crabbe's poetry, called him 'nature's sternest painter, yet the best'. Crabbe's poetry was predominantly in the form of heroic couplets, and has been described as unsentimental in its depiction of provincial life and society.
