About This Item

This is a unique collection of Charles Dickens short stories, "TALES FROM DICKENS" written entirely in shorthand. Circa 1920's (there is no date of publication stated); Sir Isaac Pitman & Sons; London. This edition is "Engraved in the Easy Reporting Style of Pitman's Shorthand." The book contains numerous illustrations by P. Hudson. The contents are as follows: The Tugg's at Ramsgate; The Bloomsbury Christening; The Great Winglebury Duel; Mr. Watkins Tottle. There is a four-page publisher's catalog at the back. The book is smaller in size - it measures 6 1/2" tall x 4 1/4" wide.

Condition:
Soiling to the covers and spine. The gilt lettering on the spine has partially faded. There are a few tiny areas at the bottom-right quadrant of the front cover where the top cloth layer has torn away. Tiny cloth tear at the top edge of the front cover, and at the top cover corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Nice interior - the pages are mostly clean and white with only a foxing spot at the left edge of page 32. The contents page has a tiny tear at the outer edge. "Public Schools St. Albans, VT" stamped in ink on the front pastedown...no other school markings. Some very light tanning to the end papers. Overall the book is in Very Good- condition.
