New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1946. 1946 STATED FIRST EDITION and with 1946 on title page. Two-color and full color illustrations by Henry Pitz. NEAR FINE in GOOD+ price-intact dust jacket. A clean, totally unmarked well-bound copy. Offsetting to pages facing illustrations as normal for this edition, otherwise text is fine. Bound in blue-green cloth cover with blind stamping on front cover, dulled gold lettering on spine. The cover is clean with slight color fade along spine and edges, lower corners lightly bumped. Binding and hinges intact and straight. Unclipped color illustrated jacket is clean, moderately edgeworn (small chips, short tears - especially at spine ends and flap folds) and toned along edges, but still an unusually nice example. It is in a new clear protective wrapper. Printed endpapers. 6-1/2 x 9". viii + 251 text pages.. First Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Good+. Illus. by Pitz, Henry C.. Large 8vo.
