Glasgow, Edinburgh and London: Blackie and Son, 1840. Decorative Cloth. Very Good. Hill, D. O. Complete Set of 11 Volumes. Complete Set of Vols. I to VI of the Tales and Sketches, each Volume beautifully illustrated by D. O. Hill, with a Full-Page Frontis Plate and an extra Title Page illustrated with a large Vignette illustration. And a Complete Set of Vols I to V of the Poems. Frontis of Vol I illustrated with an Engraved Portrait of James Hogg, with Facsimilie Signature beneath. Next is an illustrated Title Page with a Vignette of Fingall's Cave, followed by a Printed Title Page. 2 Further Full-Page Engraved Plates. Vols II, III, IV & V each have an illustrated Frontis, Vignette illustrated Title Page and another Full-Page Plate. So the 11 Volumes combined have 12 Full-Page Frontis Plates, 11 Title Pages with Vignette illustration and 6 other Full-Page Plates. Beautiful Contemporary Purple Ribbed Cloth covers with bright Gilt and blind stamped Lyre and Mistletoe Design covwering fronts and the same design blind stamped on the backs. Similar design in bright Gilt on spines with Gilt Lettering. 6 7/8" Tall. Spine colour faded and tanned to brown. Some edge wear and a few nicks at spine ends. Very light browning on plates, mainly marginal. Previous owner's name on ffep of Vols I & III of the Tales, dated 1853. No other inscriptions. Very nice, complete set. Weighs 4 Kilos so Shipping Outside Uk will be extra. Size: 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" Tall
