The first book by the prolific author of THE SOURCE and HAWAII, a collection of stories told by a young naval officer during World War II whose duties took him up and down the islands of the South Pacific. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize and basis for the musical play and film. This is the issue with the $3.00 price placed horizontally on the bottom of the front dust jacket flap. Very Good/Very Good -- with the usual browning to the pages and closed tears/edge wear that normally plague the fragile dust jacket. Still, with very clean jacket flaps and none of the usual fading found on many copies. A tiny bookstore sticker is attached to the bottom of the front end paper. Signed by Michener on a "Tales of the South Pacific" custom-made book plate (produced with an old typewriter) which is laid in (not attached) to the book.. Signed by Author. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good.
