Illustrated by beautiful steel engravings from original drawings and daguerrotypes by Beard, Mayall and others . John Tallis, London and New York l852 . 3vols 4to 265pp. 263pp, 119pp + 144 engraved plates. This work which is now hard to find is one of the three main contemporary records of the Great Exhibition ( The others being the Official Catalogue and the Art Journal Catalogue of the applied arts). The text gives a discursive description of the various sections and Courts of the Exhibition as well as the international stands and the individual exhibits. The work is also interesting for the use of daguerrotypes in producing the the engravings; Beard and Mayall being pioneers of photography at the period, The three volumes are recently bound in two, in green cloth with spine labels (lacks the title-page to volume III ) Postage at cost
