Novel by this writer who was born in the US, but moved to England as a child and spent the remainder of her life there. The story of a young girl, the ward of a great pianist and a jealous woman, whom she called "Tante, " this was a best-selling novel at the time - number 9 in 1912 according to the NY Times. Basis for the 1919 film "The Impossible Woman." Vintage novel attractively bound in red cloth with a black embossed flower design and gold stamping on the front cover and spine. 437 pp plus 1 pp list of other books by Sedgwick.
