Many pages uncut, so book is, obviously unused, merely shelf-worn on the exterior. Covers, although tight, are soiled and beginning to wear a bit at edges/corners. Gilt still bright. Art museum ex-lib. copy with lower spine sticker, bar code, and blind stamp (one).. Cream paper/boards with gilt lettering. 438 pp. on Normandy Vellum. Color frontis tipped on with tissue guard. Three additional color plates tipped on, all with tissue guards. 147 halftone engravings. With chapters covering Gothic and Renaissance tapestries; the Gobelins, Beauvais, and Aubussons; all sorts of Flemish, Burgundian and other French, Belgian, and Dutch tapestries and looms; English and other looms (including American and Scandinavian); textures, the weaving process, designs, light and shade; care of tapestries; tapestries in museum collections; and, specifically, tapestries at the Metropolitan Museum.
