New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 1948. Hardcover. Good/Good. C. Edmund Monroe, Jr. Good book in like dust jacket. Dust jacket has minor edge wear at flap folds and spine and a couple of tiny closed tears, and small numbers written in the N in Tarzan; now in new removable protective cover. Dust jacket still has price code in corner (100100). Light green boards with dark green illustration on front, and dark green print on the spine. Illustrated end papers (map of Africa) and title page by Rafael Palacios. Prior owner's name and date written lightly in pencil (Oct. 1951) on the front paste down, under the flap. Binding is firm and tight, pages are clean and unmarked. Grosset and Dunlap hard cover with dust jacket, 1948 edition but probably 1951 printing, 309 pages. Cover art by C. Edmund Monroe, Jr. 12mo (5"" x 7.5"") 11th in the Tarzan series, preceded by Tarzan and the Ant Men, and followed by Tarzan and the Lost Empire. It was serialized in The Blue Book Magazine from December 1927 - May 1928. The first book publication was a hard cover published by A. C. McClurg & Co in 1928.

Synopsis

Stimbol drew his hunting knife from his scabbard. He would slip its point through the wild man’s heart...The ape man moved – consciousness was returning. Stimbol realised that he must act quickly and at the same instant a great hairy man reached out through the foliage and a might hand closed over his shoulders. With a screaming curse he turned to look into the hideous face of Bolgani. He tried to strike at the shaggy breast of his antagonist with his hunting knife, but the puny weapon was torn from his grasp and hurled into the bushes. The great yellow fangs were bared against his throat as Tarzan opened his eyes...
