Thick 16mo, red cloth gilt lettered, endpaper ads, sprinkled page edges and rounded corners. pp (cclxxxiv), 799, (61, ads) + 8 colour maps and 21 plans (all but frontispiece folding). Memorial bookplate of Ross H. Macdonald on verso of front free endpaper, two short tears to first folding map neatly repaired on blank side with clear archival paper tape, light sticker stain to lower spine, else a fine copy. Prof. Macdonald, of Victoria College, University of Toronto, taught the first course on Korean culture (1971-72) at a Canadian university; an undergraduate scholarship in East Asian studies is awarded by the University of Toronto in his memory. .
