In addition to a history of the State Cemetery, some of the famous Texans buried here include Austin, Bullock, Dobie, Fergusons, Gipson, Jorday, Landry, Lea, Richards, Jordan, Shivers, Burleson, Webb and Lubbock. Each received lengthy biographies. Many of the photographs are of the monuments themselves which are interesting including the Medal of Honor monument and sections on the Republic of Texas; Civil War and Reconstruction; Public Officials; Cultural Figures, Educators and Academics and the Texas Rangers. The Columbarium Wall where the ashes of honored Texans can be interred was added dring the 1994-97 renovations. A beautiful was to look at Texas history.
