San Francisco: Published by Heald's Business College, 1888. 166 pp. Octavo (7-1/4" x 5-1/4"). Original publisher's cloth, gilt title to front board and publisher's name to rear board, patterned endpapers. Light rubbing and soiling to boards, moderate rubbing to extremities, light fading to spine, spine ends and corners bumped and lightly worn. Moderate toning to interior, occasional light foxing, brief underlining and marks to margins of a few pages, (illegible) erased annotation to p. 35, ownership signatures of Maggie Lyons dated 1891 to endleaves. $65. * Published for students at California's Heald Business College, this introductory textbook of commercial and business law was written for the "business man" but owned by prospective business woman Maggie Lyons, apparently a student at the college in 1891. Early editions of this title are scarce; OCLC locates 3 of this edition (Loma Linda University, Southern Methodist University, Waseda University Japan) and none of any prior editions.
