About This Item
New York: Harper & Brothers, Publishers, 1894. First American edition of Henry James' book of two plays which were never produced. Octavo, original cloth, gilt titles and tooling to the spine. In very good condition. When James failed to produce his two plays Tenants and Disengaged, he decided to publish them in book form. The rueful and witty introduction to the volume discussing the details of this failure became, perhaps, the best part of the book.
