Frankfurt und Leipzig: Heinrich Ludwig Brönner, 1801. Hardcover. Very Good. "Vierte Auflage, aus dem Englischen übersetzt." [6], 592 p., engraved frontispiece; 18 cm. Contemporary leather spine and gilt-tooled label, rebacked with acid-free dyed flax joints; contemporary marbled paper over boards. A translation by Nicolaus Leydecker of The Sincere Convert, Discovering the Paucity of True Beleevers; and the Great Difficulty of Saving Conversion (London, 1640) by Thomas Shepard (1605-1649), an English theologian who came to Massachusetts in 1635. In Very Good Condition: minor loss from spine label and from gilt decoration at tail of spine; small stain at upper edge of frontispiece and title page; otherwise, clean and tight.
