About This Item
New York, New York: C & R Anthony, Inc., 1957. Hardcover. Near Fine. Recounts "a pioneering adventure in long- distance telepathy'' that occurred in 1967 when a group of Russian aviators crashed on the Alaskan side of the North Pole & their government contracted with the first author--a famed Arctic explorer, to rescue them. He arranged to send "thought messages" to Sherman, a "student of mental powers long interested in telepathy" whom he met in New York, as he mounted an expedition to the Arctic to find the fliers. The results were reportedly "an unqualified success" in terms of the transmission of though messages via telepathy, but you will have to read the book to discover the fate of the lost pilots! Orig. published in 1951, this is the Second Edition from Jan. 1957, in 491 pages + photos of the authors & a documentary record of their original telepathic communications. With brown patterned cloth-covered boards lettered in black to spine, this hardcover octavo is in Near Fine condition: exceptionally clean & bright, marred only by a few light smudges to external page edges & rear endpapers. Else, FIRST EDITION, First Printing, from 1974, this hardcover small octavo has e cloth-covered boards stamped with a darker orange lettering to spine.
