ATTRACTIVE COPY WITH BARTOLOZZI FRONTISPIECE
small 4to. [12], 360pp., handsome allegorical frontispiece plate (Bartolozzi engraved after C. B.Cipriani), & 2 engraved plates at rear (a plan and elevation of kennels), contemporary tree calf, sides with a decorative gilt rolled border, sometime neatly rebacked with a new matching tan calf spine, spine with raised bands and a maroon morocco label, no half-title, title page lightly foxed, minor scuffing to corners and joints, very good and attractive copy.

Beckford, the first English writer to describe fox and hare hunting in detail, first published this classic work in Sarum [Salisbury, Wiltshire] in 1781 and this is the last edition printed there. The attractive frontispiece depicts Diana preparing for the chase.
